44 year old male, referred by his GP for ultrasound due to abnormal Liver Function Test.
Ultrasound showed an increase in liver parenchymal echogenicity consistent with fatty liver. In the above image, the echogenicity of the liver is in marked contrast to that of the kidney. Liver measures 14.5cm and within normal limit.
In this image, compression of blood vessels are seen indicating severe fatty changes.
In segment V of the liver, there is a small area of relative hypoechogenicity. This is an area without fatty infiltration and referred to as focal sparring.
There are multiple small gallbladder polyps noted.
