28 years old female was referred for ultrasound assessment of her ovaries. She has been married for 4 years but has not had any children. Her menses is irregular and at times delayed by a few months.
Ultrasound showed a slightly enlarged right ovary (volume 9cc) with a 1cm functional cyst.
Her left ovary is normal in size with a volume of 6cc. However, there are multiple cysts noted giving rise to 'string of pearls' sign. This is consistent with PCOS - Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
